I grew up and live in the natural beauty of the landscape that is Innishannon.
Art in all forms has always been of interest to me -  from photography, painting and ceramics.
Oil and pastel are my favourite medium, portraying subjects which range from nature to ordinary everyday objects that attract my attention both at home and while travelling abroad.
I  am a member of Ballinspittle Art Group and have developed my technique from attending courses with various established artists.

After studying and working as an engineering technician in Dublin, Brendan Power returned to college to study fine furniture making at the Letterfrack Institute of Technology in Galway. This led him to specialize in an art form called pyrography. Pyrography is the art of burning images into wood.

Originally the traditional craft of pyrography was carried out with a hot poker. Nowadays, there are specialized machines which heat up a thin wire allowing the artist to burn continuously for several hours.

Brendan has just recently designed a patented pedal powered pyrography machine which enables him to create his work outdoors whilst generating the electricity required.

When not working out of his studio in Kinsale Co. Cork, Brendan can be found travelling around Ireland demonstrating this relatively unheard of art form. Each of his pieces consist of a unique illustration and are finished to the highest standard. Brendan sells his work at exhibitions, galleries and art festivals around Ireland.

"My recent work is mainly acrylic on canvas, that records the world around me. Nature alive in sea and sky. Bales of straw in a yellow fields of stubble in September, pebbles and stones on the rocks drawing a line out to sea. A boat sits quietly in a still, calm harbour

I love to paint still-life, bowls of fruit or eggs, a bunch of wild garlic in a blue Denby jug. The charm and quiet of inanimate objects that litter our lives. I have included two large oils that came about after a trip to the Great Blasket islands last year.

I trained at the Cork College of Art and the National College of Art and Design, Dublin. I specialised in Fine-Art Painting and Print-Making. I took part in Kansale Arts Week in 2008. I have exhibited in Wexford and Dublin in group shows.
I currently teach Art,Craft and Design in Kinsale Community School."
